Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has put the NFL on its ear since he became a full-time starter with the Kansas City Chiefs.
So perhaps it should come as no surprise that he is listed as the odds-on favorite to win his second NFL Most Valuable Player award during the 2020 season.
Mahomes, who led the Chiefs to the franchise's first Super Bowl in 50 years with a 31-20 victory over San Francisco last month, opened as plus-350 to win the award, according to William Hill Sports Book.
The 24-year-old Mahomes threw for 4,031 yards and 26 touchdowns last season. It was a statistical drop from his 2018 MVP season in which he threw for 5,097 yards and 50 TDs.
Reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson of Baltimore (plus-600) is coming off a historic season in which he threw for 3,127 yards, a league-high 36 touchdowns and just six interceptions while also breaking Michael Vick's single-season rushing record for a quarterback. Jackson piled up 1,206 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground, averaging a league-best 6.9 yards per carry.
Seattle's Russell Wilson (plus-800), Houston's Deshaun Watson (plus-1400) and new Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady (plus-1600) round out the top five.
New Orleans' Drew Brees (plus-1800), Dallas' Dak Prescott (plus-2000), Arizona's Kyler Murray (plus-2500), Philadelphia's Carson Wentz (plus-2500) and Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers (plus-2500) complete the top 10.
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley (plus-3000) is the first non-quarterback mentioned on the list. Other running backs of note include Tennessee's Derrick Henry (plus-4000), Carolina's Christian McCaffrey (plus-4000) and Dallas' Ezekiel Elliott (plus-5000).
While New Orleans' Michael Thomas (plus-10000) is the first wide receiver on the board, it should be noted that new Cardinals wideout DeAndre Hopkins (plus-15000) and Brady's two new targets -- Mike Evans (plus-20000) and Chris Godwin (plus-25000) -- aren't too far behind.
And if you're looking for a wild card, how about Joe Burrow? The likely No. 1 overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft comes in a plus-8000.
