The Tampa Bay Lightning signed standout forward Brayden Point to an eight-year, $76 million extension on Wednesday.
The deal begins with the 2022-23 campaign and keeps Point under contract through the 2029-30 season.
The 25-year-old Point has been a key cog on Tampa Bay's back-to-back StanleyCup championship teams. He has 139 goals and 171 assists (310 points) in 351 games over five seasons with the Lightning.
"I'm very excited to stay in Tampa for another nine years," Point said in a news release. "I want to thank the entire Lightning organization for this and say thanks to our fans. Since being drafted by Tampa, I've always felt like Tampa has been home and the fans have played a huge role in making my time in Tampa so wonderful."
Point had 23 goals and 25 assists (48 points) in 56 games last season, leading the Lightning in both goals and points.
He also scored 14 goals during each of the past two postseasons and has 36 goals and 37 assists (73 points) in 67 career playoff games.
"Brayden is a key contributor to the Lightning's success and one of the most dynamic players in the NHL," Tampa Bay general manager Julien BriseBois said in the news release. "To be able to agree to terms with him on a long-term contract is great news for our organization going forward.
"Not only is Brayden a skilled player, he is also a fierce competitor who fits in well with the pedigree of our team. Our organization looks forward to having him be a big part of this team for many years to come."
Point has scored more than 20 goals in four straight seasons, topped by 41 during the 2018-19 seasons. He also had a career-best 91 points that season.
Tampa Bay also signed defenseman Zach Bogosian to a three-year, $2.55 million deal and free agent backup goaltender Brian Elliott to a one-year, $900,000 deal.
Bogosian, 31, played eight games for the Lightning during the 2019-20 season but played for the Toronto Maple Leafs last season, recording four assists in 45 games. Bogosian has 53 goals and 147 assists (200 points) in 689 games over 13 seasons with the Atlanta Thrashers/Winnipeg Jets, Buffalo Sabres, Lightning and Maple Leafs.
The 36-year-old Elliott is 256-155-49 with a 2.53 goals-against average and .910 save percentage over 14 NHL seasons with the Ottawa Senators, Colorado Avalanche, St. Louis Blues, Calgary Flames and Philadelphia Flyers. He went 15-9-2 with a 3.06 GAA and .889 save percentage in 30 games (26 starts) for the Flyers last season.
The Lightning also added forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare with a two-year, $2 million deal. Bellemare, 36, has 47 goals and 51 assists (98 points) in 507 games over seven seasons with the Flyers, Vegas Golden Knights and Avalanche.
