Late in the Class of 2022 recruiting cycle, a five-star prospect is back on the proverbial market.
Linebacker Harold Perkins, the No. 4 overall recruit in the class per the 247Sports Composite, decommitted from Texas AM on Monday.
The Aggies had commitments from three of the top five prospects in the class, with Perkins joined by defensive lineman Walter Nolen (No. 2) and wide receiver Evan Stewart (No. 5). Jimbo Fisher's program still has the No. 1-ranked recruiting class in the country as of Monday, narrowly ahead of SEC rivals Alabama and Georgia.
Perkins, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker from Cypress, Texas, announced his intentions to choose his college on national signing day.
"This has been one of the hardest decisions to make, but I will be decommitting from Texas AM and will announce my decision February 2nd at my school," he wrote on social media.
According to reports from ESPN and The Athletic, Perkins is considering LSU, Florida and Miami -- all of which are starting over with new coaches and would bolster mediocre classes with a five-star signing.
