Dallas Cowboys eight-time Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith will return for his 13th season under a restructured contract.
Smith has agreed to lower his base salary from the scheduled $13.6 million, which decreases his $17.605M cap number, according to NFL Network. With play-time incentives, Smith could exceed the scheduled compensation of the original deal.
The 2023 season is the final year of an eight-year contract Smith signed in 2014.
Smith, 32, tore his hamstring before the start of last season but returned in December and played in four games, volunteering to move to right tackle to replace the injured Terence Steele.
The ninth overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Southern California, the 6-foot-5, 320-pound Smith has started all 148 games he has played in for the Cowboys. He was selected to the Pro Bowl every season from 2013-19 as well as in 2021.
