He Played 2+ Seasons for Detroit with Aaron Glenn and Pass Game Coordinator Tanner Engstrand

The Jets have signed free agent wide receiver Josh Reynolds.

Reynolds, who turned 30 in February, has a good feel for what head coach Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand might want in the Jets' offense. He played three seasons at Texas A&M, Glenn's college before joining the Jets in 1991. And he played 2 1/2 seasons (38 games, 29 starts) from 2021-23 for Detroit, where he worked with Engstrand, then the Lions' passing game coordinator, and defensive coordinator Glenn.

Reynolds (6-3 196) entered the NFL as a fourth-round selection (117th overall) of the Los Angeles Rams in the 2017 draft. He played his first four seasons in LA and had his most productive season as a pro in 2020 when he set career season highs with 81 targets, 52 receptions and 618 yards.

In 2021 he moved to Tennessee and, in midseason, was acquired via waivers by Detroit. In his Lions tenure he posted 16.1 yards/catch in that season and rang up five touchdown catches in '23 and 10 total TDs in his stay with Detroit. He also displayed strong blocking skills from his WR position.

Last year Reynolds entered free agency, signed with Denver, then after five games was waived, acquired on waivers by Jackonsville, and inished the season with four games for the Jaguars.

For his eight-year career, Reynolds has played in 116 regular-season games (55 starts) and has registered 233 catches for 3,127 yards (13.4 yards/catch) and 20 TDs. He also has 19 catches for 318 yards and a TD in nine postseason games. His career game bests are eight catches (Rams vs. Seattle in '20) and 96 yards (Lions at Minnesota in '22), and he has three two-touchdown games to his credit two for the Rams in '18 and one for the Lions vs. Seattle last season.

Reynolds has played in five close games against the Jets as a member of five different teams the Rams in 2020, (23-20, Jets), the Titans in '21 (27-24 in OT, Jets), the Lions 'in 22, (20-17, Lions), and las year in the Broncos' 10-9 win in September and the Jaguars' 32-25 loss in December. Now he'll get a chance to show what he can do in his bid to make the Jets' roster and contribute to some one-score wins for the Green & White in '25.
