PALM BEACH, Fla.The Broncos introduced their 1977 throwback jerseys to rave reviews in 2024.

From a 100-yard pick six that highlighted Pat Surtain II's Defensive Player of the Year campaign and a playoff-clinching win over the Chiefs, several of the season's defining moments came in the legacy threads.

Beginning in 2025, there could be even more opportunities for memorable moments in those uniforms.

Under a new NFL policy, teams will be able to wear their alternate or throwback uniforms four times across 17 games, Broncos President Damani Leech announced Monday at the NFL Annual Meeting.

Previously, teams were allowed to wear the jerseys three times in a season. Denver wore its throwback jersey in Week 5 against the Raiders and Week 18 against the Chiefs. The Broncos wore their Midnight Navy alternate jerseys in Week 13 against Cleveland.

The policy will also allow the Broncos to wear their alternate Summit White helmet with their primary orange uniform.

"We just refreshed the policy, so now we'll be able to wear the uniforms four times during the regular season," Leech said Monday. "That will be great. More opportunity to wear the throwbacks, but also more versatility with the helmets. So, as an example, we can wear our white helmets with orange on orange pants and jerseys. Things like that will just add more flexibility to the closet and hopefully be exciting for the players, but also for the fans."

Leech said the proposal was introduced on Monday and that uniforms held a level of importance "to basically everyone in the room." Leech also said the weekly nature of NFL games helps add to the allure of the uniforms.

"I think the cadence of our games of once a week allows them to have a sense of weight and specialness to them, which is exciting," Leech said. "I think the fans love it and get excited about what the players are wearing that particular week."

While teams can now wear their alternates and throwbacks a combined four times, teams will still be limited to four options in their closet. For Denver, that includes the team's Sunset Orange, Summit White, Midnight Blue and throwback jerseys.

"I'm just happy with the vote we just got," Leech said. "I'll take that win for now and maybe in the future we'll get a little more flexibility."
