The Chicago Bears on Thursday signed veteran quarterback Case Keenum to a one-year contract.
A 13-year NFL veteran, Keenum joins the Bears after spending the last two seasons as a member of the Houston Texans, helping support a quarterback group that led the Texans to two AFC South Division titles and two appearances in the AFC Divisional Round. Over his 13 professional seasons, Keenum has appeared in 80 regular-season games (66 starts) for the Texans (2012-13, '14, '23-24), St. Louis / Los Angeles Rams (2014, '15-16), Minnesota Vikings (2017) and Denver Broncos (2018), as well as with Washington (2019), the Cleveland Browns (2020-21) and the Buffalo Bills (2022). Keenum has completed 1,391-of-2,233 pass attempts (62.3 percent) for 15,175 yards and 79 touchdowns. In 2017, Keenum started 14-of-15 games for Minnesota, leading the Vikings to an NFC North Division title and appearance in the NFC Championship Game. Keenum spent the entirety of the 2024 season on Reserve/Injured after starting two games for Houston in 2023.
Keenum, a native of Brownwood, Texas, concluded his collegiate career at the University of Houston (2007-11) as the NCAA's all-time leading passer with 19,217 yards and 155 touchdowns. Keenum's 19,217 yards remain the all-time record, as his 155 passing touchdowns are currently tied for the most by any player in college football history (Dillon Gabriel, 2019-24). In 57 career games, Keenum registered a completion percentage of 69.4, twice earning the Sammy Baugh Trophy (2009 and '11), which is presented annually to college football's top passer.
