Is there one position group that's in good shape heading into the draft? Seems like there are pressing needs or question marks everywhere. Scary.George Rudnitsky/North Myrtle Beach, SC
Patrik:As you intimated, the Cowboys have so many positions that entered the offseason needing help and/or questions answered that, yes, it's definitely concerning. But having made moves to try and bolster the roster at linebacker, running back, etc., they've at least given themselves some sort of breather. This is NOT to say they can avoid using a premium pick at running back, for example, because they can NOT; but it is to say at least the cupboard isn't as bare as it was two months ago. Still, there's much to address in several spots, except for tight end. That is one position (the other being safety) wherein the believe the Cowboys can avoid using a pick there in April and not bat an eye.
Jake Ferguson is expected to have a bounceback season and it would behoove him to do so as contract talks loom on the horizon, and Luke Schoonmaker took major strides last season in his development as TE2, as Brevyn Spann-Ford showed flashes of what he can be as well, in time. Princeton Fant is a steady hand in the blocking game (arguably their best TE at doing it) and the only concern, for me, is the health and durability of John Stephens Jr., but the latter isn't enough for me to need a a draft pick at the position. Just address it in UDFA and move on.
Tommy:Right now I would argue that the quarterback room is in pretty good shape. A healthy Dak Prescott gives you one of the better starters in the league, and picking up Joe Milton gives you a high-upside backup that still has room for development but will get better with more playing time. Add in Will Greir as another option to back Prescott up, and the Cowboys have positioned themselves well to either pass entirely on drafting a quarterback or wait until later in the draft to do so. Aside from that, you could argue that every position is in play when the draft rolls around.
