Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jason Heyward homered Saturday night and Kyle Hart tossed six shutout innings as the San Diego Padres improved to 9-0 at home with a 2-0 shutout of the Colorado Rockies.
Hart (2-0) allowed just one hit, a one-out double in the fourth inning by Kyle Farmer, and walked none while fanning four. It was a 180-degree turn from his last start on Sunday, when he walked four and allowed five runs, failing to make it out of the first inning at the Chicago Cubs.
Three relievers finished up for Hart, with Robert Suarez pitching the ninth for his seventh save in as many chances. Dating back to last September, it was San Diego's 13th consecutive home win, its longest winning streak in the 22-season history of Petco Park.
It was also the fifth shutout in the first 15 games this season for the Padres -- all at home. They have limited Colorado to seven hits -- five by Farmer -- and no runs in the series' first two games.
Colorado rookie Chase Dollander (1-1) pitched better in his second start than his first, a 12-5 victory over the Athletics. He lasted 5 2/3 innings, permitting three hits and two runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.
But Dollander's two mistakes ended up in the seats. Tatis jumped on a full-count fastball as the leadoff man in the first, clouting it 424 feet to left-center for his fourth homer of the year and second in as many nights.
Heyward took advantage of a 1-0 fastball that leaked out to the middle of the plate in the bottom of the fifth. The 410-foot homer to right was his first for San Diego and only his sixth hit in 33 at-bats.
The Rockies threatened in the ninth when Zac Veen led off with a single, the first hit this year against Suarez. Farmer singled with one out to put the potential tying run aboard but Suarez whiffed Ryan McMahon and got Kris Bryant to fly out to a leaping Tatis in right field, ending the game.Aside from the homers, the Padres' only other hit was a Luis Arraez single.
