JACKSONVILLEHe ran, he smiled, he worked and he danced.

Not only didTravis Hunterdo those things Saturday, Jaguars fans got a chance to watch him do them. That made a very warm afternoon at theMiller Electric Centera pretty cool afternoon, too.

And that all made Day 2 of 2025 Jaguars rookie minicamp a memorable day.

"The energy has been good," JaguarsHead Coach Liam Coen said.

Coen, speaking after the second of two practices at this weekend's minicamp, discussed multiple issues and spoke mostly of a good start and a positive energy in what is essentially a chance for the 29-member rookie class to begin learning the NFL.

Hunter, the No. 2 overall selection in the2025 NFL Draftand perhaps the biggest rookie story in Jaguars history, also spoke to the media after the hour-and-15-minute session discussing the excitement around a non-padded, non-contact practice attended by 2,000 fans.

Coen called Saturday's atmosphere "awesome."

Hunter, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner who will play both cornerback and wide receiver in the NFL,graduated from the University of ColoradoThursday. He flew to Jacksonville that night and practiced Friday.

"It was a blessing to be the first person in my family to walk across the stage, but I was just thinking about getting back to work and coming back and playing football," Hunter said.

Hunter will be the first NFL player in at least three decades to play both offense and defense on an extended basis. He is expected to start his NFL career playing full-time on offense and in extended packages defensively.

He worked with the offense during two minicamp practices this weekend, sometimes repeating repetitions Saturday if he believed he hadn't run the first correctly.

"The organization expects a lot out of me," Hunter said. "They expect me to come out here and play right away. So I'm going to do whatever it takes for me to get out here and play right away."

Coen said Hunter will begin getting defensive repetitions when rookies begin working with veterans this coming week during the final week of Phase 2 of the offseason program.

"He'll be able to get integrated next week on the defensive side of the ball," Coen said. "We just kind of ended up making a decision that from [Friday] to [Saturday], we wanted to be able to clean up some of the things that we may have missed [Friday], get extra reps on the offensive side of the ball, and next week he'll start the roll on defense."

Coen on Saturday lauded Hunter's blend of work ethic and personality, noting the time and work Hunter dedicates to preparing mentally and physically to play two positions at a high level.

"But you [also] see him out there dancing and having fun and that's really cool to see," Coen said. "We want to see some more of that. And when he goes out there and he's doing his thing, he is serious about this process."

Coen laughed when asked if Hunter was as good "as advertised," noting that such evaluation is limited in a minicamp practice.

"He ran a route Friday where his shoe came off," Coen said. "It didn't affect him and he made a great catch. It's more his presence and the energy he does provide in the classroom, the meeting rooms and out here on the field.

"It's hard to tell in this kind of setting."

All nine members of the Jaguars' draft class participated this weekend along with 22 collegiate free agents, two first-year veterans and multiple tryout players. Coen spoke positively of the group's approach, noting that several position groups held "walkthroughs" at their hotel Friday evening.

"It's like being a freshman in high school for a lot of these guys," Coen said. "Hopefully some of the leadership out of these guys will continue to rise."

Added Coen, "Overall, really appreciate their energy and enthusiasm."
