JACKSONVILLEHe's big, aggressive and here for a reason.
Wyatt Milumduring Jaguars2025 rookie minicampthis past weekend said he knows that reason and as such, he had no problem reiterating what he during the 2025 NFL Draft several weeks ago.
He's here to protect the quarterback and it's cool to have a chance to do that.
"It's a blessing to be here," Milum said.
Milum, selected by the Jaguars in Round 3 of the 25 draftNo. 89 overall was among 31 rookies participating in '25 rookie camp at the Miller Electric Center. He and the other rookies will begin working with veterans this week as Phase 2 of the voluntary offseason program continues.
Milum, an offensive tackle at West Virginia who is moving to guard in the NFL, was among several rookiesHead Coach Liam Coenlauded Saturday following the second of two non-padded, non-contact minicamp practices.
Wyatt Milum did a nice job in the drills over the course of the last two days, Coen said.
And while there's a limit to how much an offensive lineman can be evaluated or stand out in a non-contact environment, the Jaguars made clear during the draft they like Milum and the potential he brings to an offensive line that is a key offseason storyline.
"That's kind of what he prides himself on being, and that's what he is kind of known for around that building is being a guy that finishes, that plays the game the right way, that approaches it the right way."
The Jaguars selected two offensive linemen in the draftMilum and Round 7 centerJonah Monheimafter signing four offensive linemen in free agency: centerRobert Hainsey, guardPatrick Mekari, tackleFred JohnsonandChuma Edoga.
"Obviously, he (Milum) is somebody that's walking in as a rookie and is going to come in with a high level of college experience and really a lot of intangible elements,"Jaguars General Manager James Gladstonesaid. "It's something that we look forward to him bringing to the room and really absorbing across the group that's already here."
Milum made clear his approach and attitude during his post-draft media availability when in addition to saying fans will see in him someone who plays through the whistle he vowed to fans to not let anyone touch quarterbackTrevor Lawrence.
Milum, the Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year and a consensus All-America selection in 2024, said during minicamp that he absolutely had a wow-I'm-in-the-NFL moment upon arriving in Jacksonville.
"You see people that you saw playing in college when you were in high school, you see people that you never thought you would see, so that has been a blessing," he said. "Just seeing Trevor out here is awesome. I watched him when I was in high school growing up. Just seeing him in the locker room is surreal."
But not so surreal that he forgot his draft-weekend vow.
"I feel like that's the mindset here, especially. That's one reason why I love playing here already, is just the mindset that we have on this offensive line. We don't want anyone touching Trevor."
