Veteran QB Likes Energy HC Aaron Glenn, OC Tanner Engstrand Bring to Practice

The Jets conducted their second public OTA session Thursday afternoon in Florham Park, NJ.

Phase 3 of the offseason program is the first time players can practice, which is especially important for the Jets since they have three new coordinators. Quarterback Justin Fields, working with first-year OC Tanner Engstrand, believes he can continue to grow in this offense after a career year with the Steelers in the 2024 season.

"I think I can be great [in this offense]," Fields said. "That's been the goal for me my whole life, my whole career. I think the sky's the limit for this team, for this offense, but we do have a long way to go. Our offense and defense are new, so guys are really tuned in and locked in trying to get everything down. Once we do, I think the sky's the limit. We have all the guys we need. We have all the talent, so it's really just going to just going to come down to discipline and execution when the games come."

Fields, drafted No. 13 overall in 2021 by the Bears, had a pair of long runs in Thursday's session and has been a fan of head coach Aaron Glenn's energy in the spring sessions.

"First off, I think he's one of the realest coaches I've ever played for," he said. "He's not going to beat around the bush, he's going to tell you what it is. Like [Wednesday], he didn't like the energy of the practice. He didn't like our practice and after practice he told us straight up how he felt.

"I think that clear communication, that trust between him and all the players on the team, I think that's what we need. He comes in here each and every day with energy and passion and I think that feeds off to the whole team. He's our leader. He's a great leader and he pushes us each and every single day."

The Green & White have one more week of OTAs before the offseason program is capped by a mandatory minicamp June 10-12.
