FOXBOROUGH, Mass. Former Patriots center David Andrews officially announced his retirement today at a press conference in the GP Atrium at Gillette Stadium, ending a 10-year career with the New England Patriots that included two Super Bowl Championships.
"David Andrews has been the heart and soul of our offensive line for the past decade and helped us achieve two Super Bowl championships," said Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft. "David's leadership, work ethic, and dedication to the team earned the respect and admiration from his coaches, teammates, and fans. We are deeply grateful for everything he has given to this organization, both on and off the field. We know his impact on this franchise will be felt for years to come. We wish David and his family all the best in all his future endeavors."
Andrews, 32, originally joined the Patriots as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Georgia on May 8, 2015. The 6-foot-2, 300-pounder, is a two-time Super Bowl Champion with the Patriots and was named a team captain for eight seasons. He was the starting center for a top 10 offense in each of his first four seasons, including the NFL's top-ranked offense in 2017.
Andrews made his first start in the season opener in 2015 against Pittsburgh (9/10/15), becoming the first undrafted rookie offensive lineman to make their NFL debut as a starter on opening day.
Overall, Andrews played in 124 regular season games with 121 starts and played in 12 postseason games with 10 starts, including three straight Super Bowls. He was voted to the 2010s All-Decade Team at center and was the 2020 recipient of the Ron Burton Community Service Award.
