Vaughn Grissom drove in six runs, including an eighth-inning grand slam, to power the visiting Los Angeles Angels to a 10-6 win over the slumping Detroit Tigers on Tuesday.
Grissom ripped a 2-0 pitch from Will Vest (1-4) over the right field wall to erase a 6-5 deficit and give the Angels their fourth consecutive victory.
Zach Neto had three hits, scored two runs and knocked in another, while Logan O'Hoppe had two hits, scored twice and added an RBI.
Jo Adell and Jose Siri supplied solo homers.
Starter Jack Kochanowicz gave up five runs and six hits in four innings. Jose Fermin (2-1) pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to collect the victory.
Kevin McGonigle led the Detroit offense with three hits, including a two-run triple, and scored a run. Wenceel Perez had a solo homer, while Colt Keith had two hits and scored twice. Zach McKinstry added a pair of sacrifice flies for the Tigers, who have lost nine of their last 10 games.
Tigers starter Keider Montero gave up four runs and eight hits while striking out seven in 5 2/3 innings.
Detroit ended two offensive streaks despite the defeat. The Tigers had scored four runs or fewer in 13 consecutive games. They also had seven hits or fewer in their previous 11 games before banging out eight hits on Tuesday.
The Tigers scored a run in the second inning but Grissom knocked in two runs with a base hit in the third. The Angels extended their advantage to 4-1 in the fourth, when Adell led off with a homer and Neto hit a two-out RBI double.
Detroit scored a run in the bottom of the inning and three more in the fifth on McGonigle's triple and Jahmai Jones' bases-loaded single.
Perez homered with one out in the sixth to make it 6-4 Tigers. The Angels roared back with a five-run eighth.
O'Hoppe drove in the first run of the inning with a two-out double. Neto followed with an infield hit and Mike Trout drew a walk, setting the stage for Grissom's third homer of the year.
