The Giants eighth OTA was forced inside due to the rain, as was yesterday's.
Here's what I saw from the sideline:
* For the second straight day, the offense made a number of big plays. Russell Wilson and Jalin Hyatt continue to build their chemistry. Their first completion came on a patented Russell Wilson moon ball down the middle of the field. Hyatt got behind the cornerback and leapt to the make the catch. The second completion wasn't as deep but perhaps more impressive, as the two connected on a perfectly timed back-shoulder throw down the right sideline. Wilson put the ball in the perfect spot and Hyatt waited until the last moment to turn his body and snatch the ball out of the air while getting both feet in-bounds. It was a very pretty play.
* The other main connection of practice was between Jameis Winston and undrafted free agent Beaux Collins. Winston's first throw featured a lower arm angle as he connected with Collins on a crossing route like a shortstop slinging it with a form right in stride. Their other two completions came on perfectly thrown deep balls, the first on the right sideline and the second on a flag route toward the right sideline. Both deep balls had perfect arc and dropped over the receiver's shoulder without Collins breaking stride.
* It sure seems like the Giants are throwing and connecting on more deep throws down the field than they have in years past in the spring. It makes sense given Wilson's and Winston's willingness to get the ball downfield.
* The defense made some plays throughout practice. The best play came from Jevon Holland, who came down and jumped in front of a slant intended for Ihmir Smith-Marsette. Paulson Adebo worked his way back to the ball and knocked away a pass down the right sideline intended for Daniel Bellinger. Raheem Layne made a great play, knocking the ball away on a pass intended for Theo Johnson. Cor'Dale Flott broke up a pass headed for the left side of the field.
* Despite those two plays, the tight ends were frequent targets of all four quarterbacks. Bellinger made a great catch, fully extending on a pass from Russell Wilson during team drills. Later in practice, when the team was working in a hurry-up offense in a 7-on-7 period, Theo Johnson made a nice play as he leaped high for a touchdown catch from Wilson.
* The young quarterbacks had their moments in practice, too. Tommy DeVito hit Juice Wells on a deep pass down the sideline. He also hit Beaux Collins on a crossing route, though he might not have been able to get the pass off with Chauncey Gholston bearing down on him. Gholston had what looked like a probable sack on the next play. One session later, Gholston intercepted a pass at the line of scrimmage, cradling the ball in his stomach after jumping to bat the ball at the line of scrimmage.
* Jaxson Dart found Dalen Cambre on a crossing route over the middle and hit Lil'Jordan Humphrey on a deep skinny post over the middle. Paulson Adebo, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Brian Burns all got into the backfield for potential sacks. Trace Ford was around the quarterback on another play.
